The words used are a bit odd like epidermal sense, this would be touch but that is not the feeling I get from the rest of the paragraph.  Saying contemporary beings sounds a bit mystical. You might say People today are tied... also you might exchange perverted for corrupted the meanings are similar but corrupted seems to capture the feel of what you are saying better.
