Wiem, że 'sobie' jest 'siebie' w miejscowniku. Poza tym, nie zawsze wiem gdy tego używać. Np: czemu 'Zrobię sobie obiad' a nie 'siebie' czy 'sam'?

@polec2 Hard question :p first of all it's not 100% true that 'sobie' is 'siebie' w miejscowniku, because both are reflexive pronouns (zaimki zwrotne) and you can't inflect them by cases.
Let's start from the easiest one, 'sam' it's something like 'by my/your/him/herself', it also could mean 'alone'
I do it by myself. (Sam to zrobię)
He did it by himself. (Zrobił to sam)
'się' is something we add to verbs to create reflexive verbs, in that kind of verbs performer is also receiver of action.
Nauczyłem się. (I've learned myself)
Ona się zgubiła. (She lost herself)
Sobie and siebie are, as i mentioned, reflexive pronouns, it's also points that performer is also receiver of action, but it's not a part of verb like 'się'.
Diffrence between sobie and siebie is in kind of verb, as you propably know every case in Polish has this backup questions
Mianownik (kto? co?), dopełniacz (kogo? czego?) etc. this questions are for verbs, for example:
widzę -> kogo? -> siebie
robię obiad -> komu? -> sobie
Sobie is for celownik and miejscownik verbs and siebie is for biernik and dopełniacz verbs.
I have propably confused you even more :p it's really hard to explain :/ maybe someone can do it better.

@BenParker I don’t think anyone explain it better xd but here are some example sentences: Lubię siebie (I like myself), patrzę na siebie (I look at myself). You can’t say „Lubię się” and „Patrzę na się”. That sounds like an ancient form. But you can say „patrzę się” (I am looking), myję się (I am washing (myself)). And „sobie” means „to/for myself” like in „Kupuję sobie prezent” (I buy a present to myself) „Robię sobie śniadanie” (I am making breakfast for myself”. And „sam” means „by myself/alone”: Lubię być sam (I like beaing alone (male)) and Zrobię to sama (I will make this myself (female). I guess it is one of those things that you have to memorize by heart and later it will come naturally
