Question about English (US)

: Do you think English is a subject requiring a lot of memorization?

In my opinion, English is a subject requiring a lot of memorization. This is because we cannot speak, listen to, write, read and understand anything without knowing the meanings of things.

For example, when you are reading a book written in other language with a little vocabulary and a little knowledge about the grammar and syntax, you come across several unknown words in one sentence. Probably, you cannot understand it completely. In the same way, if you listen to what other person said including some unknown words, you would not make it out.

Therefore, English is a subject demanding a lot of memorization and we should focus on learning much of vocabulary by heart at first when we learn other languages.
does this sound natural?
