Historically, the United States was originally thirteen British Colonies until the Revolutionary war, when the colonies became their own country separate of the tyranny of King George. When the War of 1812 rolled along, with the USA declaring war against Great Britain, the USA failed in taking Canada with both sides signing a peace treaty.
