I saw that in a manga page and I am curious as to why させるis here. Can someone explain to me why. It's not like anyone is being made to do something.

I think させる has 2 aspects .
one is as you said " make someone to do something ".
another one is " to make it happen " .
8月の旅行、実現させようね！
彼は不可能と言われた事を実現させた。
I think we usually use this phrase
Someone make it happen the things that it is said that it seems to be impossible or difficult with their effort .
