@yafrp: If you go to a restaurant (in the US) shrimp are considered to be smaller, while prawn are considered to be much larger shrimp. Prawn are actually not shrimp but a very similar type of crustacean the differences between the two are minimal, I think prawns have an extra claw. There are a few other minute differences but not being big into biology I can not explain the very minute differences. From a GENERAL point the majority of the US just classify ALL large shrimp as "prawns" regardless of whether or not they actually are or not. Realistically speaking no one really cares about the small differences of this breed of crustacean. They are all delicious just stuff your face with them =D.
In the UK however, most just call all shrimp prawns.
