@VickaFlute they are the same. :) can be used with anyone, one isn’t formal than the other

@VickaFlute in a sense they are both the same when speaking to someone but I would say that "how about you?" would be the more formal one. and "what about you ?"would be the informal version. but both are really alright to say because we are very informal in America I'd say so no one would really get offended by it.
