Question about English (UK)

My hometown is located in the south of Hebei province. It is a small city with enormous amount of citizens. Nowadays my little city is suffering from a serious air pollution problem. While Beijing is now well-known as well for its haze problem, the situation is far worse here in my hometown. My friend joked that she found Beijing was the paradise comparing the air condition when she came back home. Measures, like cleaning the street by using water, restricting the vehicles, providing free service for public transport, have been taken, however, they are not the most efficent ways. The key point I suppose is to reduce the waste gas from plants, but it is kind of hard to release because the economy here is attached to the industry. I feel frustrated that I cannot help to make my hometown a better place. does this sound natural?
