Question about Brazil
Why are Brazilians so disrespectful and immature on the Internet? (Not generalizing, I have good Brazilian friends).
But like.. there are a lot of comments of Brazilians insulting Portugal and the Portuguese people in every video on Youtube when it's related to Portugal or European Portuguese.
Of course there are also Portuguese insulting Brazilians, but it happens because Brazilians start with it.
And it doesn't happen only on Youtube but in every social network.
Could you tell me why does it happen?
That's really sad because I love the Portuguese language, Portugal and Brazil, but sometimes Brazilians make me dislike them.
I think that Portuguese and Brazilians should be friends, you share the history and the language. The past stays in the past.

we are friends, but we won't keep in silence when someone from Portugal say racism and xenophobic things to us, I saw what u are talking about on twitter and they called us slaves, monkeys, prostitute and favelados
in this case Brazilians were just making fun with memes about gold

That's not always our fault because often some of them say things like "you guys miss education on your country" or "you guys don't speak Portuguese" or "Brazilian women are slut", "You guys don't even know what education is","you guys live in slums"... If you search about Brazilians on the web you will see that people from many countries say that Brazilian people are super warm and welcoming (I'm proud of that). But we don't use to accept foreigners to say bullshit about us... Just Brazilians can say those things because we live here and we know better about it. Just because Portugal is an European country or because they have better life conditions there it doesn't mean that they will say bad things about us and we will accept it. It doesn't mean that we worth less and also many of the problems and cultural struggles we got have Portuguese origins... The son learns from his father. The past stays in the past but some people here are still living in the past because of things Portugal has done. Most of the people who live in slums (the same slums they make fun of) are there because erros that are Portugal's fault as well... Also Brazilians don't always start it, it started over 500 years ago. So yeah Brazilians got problems but no... Portugueses won't make fun of it freely

@Iggor Well, I know some people have bad intentions with those but, what I see is that the major people are actually just having fun it and don’t really takes it to the personal side. Portugueses n Brazilians are friends!

@Iggor Partially because in school we learn about how Portugal colonized our country based on pure exploitation. That's when Brazilians start to see Portugal as an enemy, thinking that we could be so much better now if Portugal had not taken so much of our natural resources. Brazilian children start to see Portugal as the source of all the misery in Brazil.
And then some Brazilians are like someone who had an abusive father as a kid and can't forgive him now as an adult.
It's too bad that people just don't seem to realize that Portugal is not the same country it was more than 500 years ago and start those pointless and neverending arguments about what our ancestors did in the past.
It's also too bad that some Portugueses also attack Brazilians trying to make them feel inferior.
I think that because there are so much more Brazilians than Portugueses on the internet it may seem that Brazilians start the arguments all the time, which is not always true.
There are immature and disrespectful people in both sides.
But, as you have noticed, those are people who have a very limited view
and don't see that what they're doing HAS NO FREAKING POINT!!!

What I see ALL the time it's just the opposite of the situation you're talking about. A lot of Portuguese people are xenophobic, racist, with Brazilian people, and that's how we get insulted and mad. A huge part of our history was made by them: slavery, poverty, exploration, acculturation... I don't have any bad feelings related to Portugal, unless when some people insult my country, saying that our Portuguese is "worst" (WTF), talking about the different religions or cultural manifestations, etc.

@Iggor we're not disrespectful
I really hate a lot of Portuguese people because I've heard a lot of things they say about us, something like this "y'all aren't polite", "Brazilian women are slut", "we're better than you guys"
we're Brazilian, we know what we went through sometimes
actually we don't speak Portugal's Portuguese, that accent is so weird. actually we don't understand them sometimes...
if you don't know, our country is welcoming of foreigners. our country was made by people from all over the world ;)

I'm sorry, but there is disrespectful people saying unspeakable things online from everywhere. Brazilian people may like to joke around about ALMOST everything, but sometimes the foreigners just don't get our sense of humor and misunderstand the whole thing.
