Question about English (UK)

He had his breath pent-up long enough to nearly pass out. There was this unbearable stench in the air and he couldn't pinpoint where it was coming from. Maybe from some filthy and substandard restaurant nearby. This idea seemed to be the most plausible. He walked on and made his way down the avenue. Padding in a faster pace, he nearly passed by his destination. When he faced the facade of the building where he was to have his first ever job interview, he began to have butterflies in his stomach. Does this sound natural?
