I found a cockroach in a bowl of noodles when I once ate at that restaurant. That experience has left me a mental illness. I fear there'll be a cockroach coming out every time I eat out. Does this sound natural?

The same idea applies to the last sentence.

-"Mental illness" refers to many disorders such as Depression, Schizophrenia, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and so on.
"That experience left me traumatized." more clearly states your meaning, I believe.
