Q: what's the difference between 訓読み and 音読み? Why the 音読み is so different from the real Chinese pronunciation? why is it called so then ? とはどういう意味ですか?
A:
I’ll try to explain one after another. Today I’ll do one of them. My English is poor. If you don’t know, please feel free to ask me.

音読み based on Chinese pronunciation. We don’t understand what they mean when we just listen to them.

訓読み
The way to read. We can understand what they mean when we just listen to them.

For instance, 草

音読み ソウ
草原(そうげん) 草食(そうしょく)

訓読み くさ
草花(くさばな) 七草(ななくさ)

Japanese people had already had our own language. So we named the Japanese word’s pronunciation to Chinese Characters.

Q: 訓読み と 音読み はどう違いますか?
A:

Each kanji has on readings and kun readings, and each of them has 1 to 8 readings all together. On readings are based on Chinese readings and you don't understand what it means from their readings unless you know Chinese, while kun readings are based on Japanese and you understand what it means from their readings as long as you know the Japanese word. There are many exceptions, but when the word consists of one kanji or includes hiragana, you can read it by kun reading such as 先走る, 山, 船, 聞き手, etc. When the word consists of more than one kanji without hiragana except person's family name such as 電車, 強風, 基本的, etc., you read it by on reading.
However, this rule is not absolute, so I don’t think you should be particular about it as long as you know the readings of the kanji.
Because even we sometimes don’t understand which reading is onyomi or kunyomi, but it doesn’t matter as long as you know the readings.
Q: 訓読み と 音読み はどう違いますか?
A: 訓読み的话根据日本人一读就猜到意思的读法。音読み的话根据汉语发音的读法。比如说“山”的訓読み“やま”。音読み“さん”。“やま”的发音对日本人来说一下子猜到什么意思。不过“さん”的发音一下子猜不到什么意思。不过对中国人来说“さん”的发音和汉语的“shan”的发音有一点像。有这样的区别啊。
Q: 訓読み と 音読み はどう違いますか?
A: 訓読み are from Japanese. 音読み are from Chinese.
Q: 訓読み と 音読み はどう違いますか?
A: 音読みは、中国語に由来する読み方です(中国語と同じではありません)。
訓読みは、日本語の本来の読み方です。

Q: When should I use 訓読み vs 音読み pronunciation when dealing with numbers? In judo we’d use 音読み when counting which confused me when I discovered there were other ways to say the same number. Thank you in advance.
A: if you mean ひとつ、ふたつ、訓読み vs. いち、に, 音読み both are used depending on the situation.
For numbers less than 10 and without any 助数詞 like 本、枚, 訓読み tends to be used.
With 助数詞, the rule seems to be complicating. If the 助数詞 is 音読み like 本、枚, 音読み いち、に "tends to" be used, whereas the 助数詞 is 訓読み like 皿 訓読み "tends to" be used, but there are many exceptions.
We don't choose it logically, but just remember the combination, like 1本 一皿 as one word. As you may have noticed, 音読み numbers are written in Arabic, and 訓読み numbers are written in 漢字。
Q: 訓読みと音読み、どうやって勉強していたのか。
A: 音 is pronounced as おと, おん and ね.
おと means "sound", so おと makes sense. 「おと」は訓読みです。
Both of おん and ね doesn't make sense. 「おん」と「ね」は音読みです。音読みは熟語(じゅくご)を読むときの読み方です。
音楽music : おんがく、 「おん」と「がく」は音読みです。
音 :「おと」 、 楽しい :「たの」しい
「おと」と「たの」は訓読みです。

Ex. Forest=もり=森[訓読み:もり 音読み:しん]
Q: Is there a rule to when to use which 訓読み or which 音読み if one kanji has several ways to be read?
For example the word 元気: how do you know 元 is read げん and not its other 音読み which would be がん?
Is there a rule to this or do you just have to remember which word is read how?

Q: Learning the Kanji and their corresponding English meanings is simple. I'm having trouble with the readings. I understand that 訓読み、音読み are the different readings and that ON is for compounds, and Kun is stand alone Kanji. However this is my note book(below) the first few basic kanji there are loads of reading can someone explain with examples etc how to figure out which are pointless learning and which are important because they seem to be repeats with hiragana attached I assume to change the function. Please explain lamens.
A: I think all the preceding suggestions are good. Try to read as many as texts so that you could find out that which ones are less important.

For instance, as far as I know,
You read 上 and 海 as "Shan" and "hai" only when they are used for 上海
(Shanghai). Tha same is true for 香港 read as "honkon."

I think they should be less prioritized at the earlier stage of your study.
