A: While racial discrimination can happen in a lot of contexts, "racial profiling" specifically refers to racism from police.

Police often "profile" people, which means that they look at things about a person to try to predict what kind of person they are and if they're likely to be a criminal. For example, a guy who has a history of hitting women might be a suspect in his girlfriend's disappearance because of his profile. Some parts of a profile make sense like that one, but others can be silly or even discriminatory.

Racial profiling is when police see someone who isn't white, most often black but sometimes Latino or Arab (or Indian or Pakistani, if they think they look Arab) and then assume things about them and treat them accordingly. Like for example, they see a black guy driving a nice car, so they think he must have stolen it. (Also called "driving while black," because this is unfortunately common.) If you search for the controversy around "stop and frisk" in New York, you'll see a lot of talk about racial profiling. (Stop and frisk is an unconstitutional police practice, of illegally searching people on the street with no cause other than their race.)
