Q: looking back on serenity

A: It's hard to use this word naturally. We mainly use "serene".

"This forest is very serene and tranquil. It's very relaxing."

A: "He has a very serene look on his face."
B: "Well. He IS dead."

Can't think of a natural sentence with "serenity". Very pretty word though.

A: They are all very similar and in most cases can be used interchangeably.
I'll write a few examples to hopefully show you how these words are most commonly used.

"The mountain looked so serene today"
(referring to beauty in nature)

"The tranquility of the sea is beautiful"
(refering to no waves etc)

"The boy was very calm yesterday"
(refering to staying still, being quiet etc)

"The war ended a year ago and now there is peace"
(refering to no hostility and happiness)

Hope this helped a little but in these cases it would also sound natural to use a form of the other words.

Q: What does that mean?"my serenity is rippled but not ruffled."
A: To ripple is to slightly disrupt something

To ruffle is more disrupting.

So her peace and quiet was only slightly distrusted.

You ripple the water when you touch it.

You can ruffle a small child's hair with your hand.

Not much of a difference between the two effects.
