They’re basically the exact same thing. No one would look twice if you used them interchangeably. As far as I can tell the only difference is if you write out the conjunctions in the second one you wouldn’t use an exclamation point with the sentence, it would sound a little strange to say/write “it will be fun!” But ultimately I can’t see anything wrong with either

“We are going to have and “We will have”mean exactly the same thing. And the person who said “conjunction” meant “contraction.”
I would not worry about that point.

@mfrye001 Hi, thank you for your reply! Sorry to bother, but there are a few things I cannot grasp yet. According to what I've always studied, 'going to' is used for intentions, already made decisions, predictions based on facts or something that is about to happen. While 'will' is used to express a quick decision, predictions based on opinions or for the distant future, offers/requests/promises, and yet there are some cases I cannot categorise. Take the following excerpt from a school book: << I hope you can come with me on Sunday - a country music band is going to give a concert at the theatre in the evening. We *ARE GOING TO HAVE a great time. After the concert maybe we will go to the cinema together, or perhaps we will try that new sushi bar in the station. So please come with me – it *IS GOING TO BE great fun!>>. I don't understand why the book uses going to in sentences with asterisk instead of will. Isn't that a prediction based on opinion (that is they will have fun that night)?

Well, you are right; these sentences don’t follow the rules as you have stated them.
Are these examples from a grammar lessons in that school book?
But in common, spoken English there is
almost no distinction between “Will” and “going to.”
I had to look up the rule because I had never heard it. It seems ridiculous to me that such a rule exists. They mean the same thing so I would not bother worrying about different uses!
