@ttmto 'to have a mind for X' means 'to like learning about X, or to learn about X quickly'. "He has a mind for math", "He's got a mind for mechanics" etc. So the speaker of your sentence is saying that being predisposed or gifted at language learning only helps with learning grammar. So for example, they maybe believe that such a gift wouldn't help with learning vocabulary, pronunciation, etc. I happen to disagree with that statement btw.
