What kanji should I learn first? I have no idea where to begin, should I learn the most commonly used ones?

I can read all Hiragana fluently and Katakana almost the same, though I want to start Kanji. I know a few like the kanji for Hikari, Watashi, and Tobira.

I think learning kanji sorted by frequent can be a way.

This is kanji list which elementary school student learn listed by grade.

I think memorizing common kanji compound is important because we usually memorize kanji as kanji compound.

Memorizing radical is not so important, but if you do so, your memorizing speed will enhance a little.
But it's so hard, I don't recommend.

I think you don't need to memorize kanji stroke order.
But writing will effect certainly.

I think most important things are to clarify your goal, to get used to boring, and to continue.

Thank you very much for the help! I will try to start off with N5 Kanji and vocabulary. Should I study in the form of flash cards? How should I study kanji? Also, I am quite fond of boring, so I won't likely be discouraged.

In my opinion, the most effective way is making sentence by yourself.
But it's so tough.

Learning kanji is really hard, to continue is really important.
There's no silver bullet.

You can try it anyway as you like.
Efficiency will increase as long as you keep doing try and error.

So, I should try to learn vocabulary and their kanji, then try to string words together and see if it works?

But I think it depends on your goal and your personality.
You can write, you can use kanji drill, you can watch some video on Youtube...
But effective way depends on the person.
