What about the ships / boats / rafts , et cetera ?
Why in some cases the ship is * it * and in some cases * she * ? Does it matter that the ship is drowned or capsized ? Any other reasons ?

Technically a ship/boat/raft is an inanimate object so should be referred to as an 'it'. However our navy has traditionally called their vessels 'she' for various reasons. Either way would be correct but most people I know would call a vessel 'she' than 'it'. It doesn't matter if she is afloat, sunk or capsized.
