yeah, I agree with everyone else so far. next week is always the week following this current week. the following week is the week after whatever week you're currently talking about.
today is November 7. I'm not traveling during Christmas because it's too crowded and we don't celebrate it anyway. I'll travel the following week.

If today is Sunday, next week refers to the *next* (following) Sunday. Or the new week that starts in 7 days. The following week is the week AFTER *next* week. If you are talking about the following week, you are referring to the week that is 2 weeks in advance. For example, if today is Sunday the 8th, next week will be Sunday the 15th. The following week will be Sunday the 15th. Looking at a calendar will help to understand. I hope this made sense😂👍

the following week その次の週, is not necessary Next week 来週。
I have a doctor’s appointment next week. And the following week, I get the operation.
