Confidence is a feeling of trust/belief in someone's or your own abilities, power, or reliability (e.g. âI am confident I will do well on the testâ, âI have confidence in her ability to complete the task wellâ, âI am confident he is competent enough for the jobâ.)
Competence is a sufficient level of skill, knowledge, or ability. (E.g. âI am not competent enough in math to complete the homework without helpâ, âCan I trust that youâre competent enough for the jobâ, âAlthough he was nowhere near competent enough to complete the task, he had a blind confidence that kept him working towards his goalâ.)
