A veces es una locución adverbial que puede significar ‘en ocasiones’, ‘ocasionalmente’, ‘de vez en cuando’ o ‘por orden alternativo’.
ejemplo:
Mi papá viene a veces a visitarme.
Aveces es el verbo avezar conjugado en segunda persona singular de presente en modo subjuntivo. Significa ‘acostumbrar’, ‘habituar’.
