No creo que ayer fuera un día perfecto. En mi opinión, hay muchas cosas que podían haber sido mejor.

¿Es correcto el imperfecto {podían} o debería ser el preterite {pudieron}?

es correcto "podían" pero lo siguiente es: haber salido mejor /o/ haber ido mejor.

Se puede decir de muchas maneras y el resultado es el mismo.
