En el Inglés,
Te quiero = I want you
Te amo = I love you
Por ejemplo:
No quiero jugar con el perro ... te quiero en lugar del perro.
I don't want to play with the dog ... I want you instead.
Eres mi esposo y, por eso, te amo.
You are my husband and, for that, I love you.
** Pero, yo sé que en el Español, se podría decir "te quiero" a amigos, novios / novias ... pero, eso era la mejor manera que podría explicarlo con ejemplos en el Inglés. **

"Te quiero" y "me gustas" ambas son "I like you", y "te amo" es "I love you. Pero dependiendo en el contexto en español, "te quiero" puede sonar un poco más romántico o fuerte, en cual caso se traduce como "I love you" también.
