Both phrases, "fight the blaze" and "battle the flames" have identical meanings and can be used interchangeably. The difference is that they "paint" a slightly different image in the mind, though quite subtle. There is no concrete description of what that different image might be. It is up to the writer/speaker to choose the phrase and it is left to the listener's imagination to picture the meaning. For example, if you identify the people "fighting the blaze" as "Firefighters", to avoid using the same sounding words so close together it might be better to say "The firefighters battled the flames (or blaze)". Likewise you could say "The fire crew fought the blaze like heroes." Or, "The mother fought the ferocious blaze with all of her heart to save her children. She had to battle the flames alone for half an hour before help arrived." Aqui no Berlim ´ta quasi 18:00. Acho que em breve vou tomar um chope! Saúde! RR
