I guess it's different for everyone.
In General:
At the 24th some will come over and there is a Christmas dinner. When it's late, it's time for the presents.
If there are little children around who still believe in Santa/ the Christ Child, they'll go into a different room. While they're in the room the others will put the presents under the Christmas tree and ring a bell when they're done. When the kids hear the bell they can come back and open the presents.

Usually you are going to celebrate christmas on 24th of december with your closest Familie. This would be your husband and your children. In case you dont have those you most likely are going to celebrating with your parents and silblings. On the 25th or and 26th you would then celebrate with your bigger families. this would be the whole familie like aunts, grandmother or the familie of your silblings. This depense A Lot on the relationship status of you and your silblings and the distance between your home and the home of your families. Therefor it is not unusuall to split the 25th and 26th between the your familie and the familie of your husband.
In nearly every case you are going to have A special meal, A Lot of gifting and maybe some church visit. the meal and the Gifts vary between very basic food like sausages to richer stuff like raclette or duck/turkey. The gifts vary aswell from 1 Euro to thausands Depending A Lot on the relationship and money available.
Other traditions around christmas are santa claus on 6th of december. But celebrating santa claus is Not nearly as important th an celebrating on the 24th.
another tradition is to gift a kind of calender ranging from the 1st of december to the 24th. this calender contains for every Day A smaller gift for you to receive on the specific date.
anOther tradition is to buy or craft an adventskranz (Advent wresth) with 4 candles. you will Start to lit ohne candle 3 weeks before christmas and lighting one more for each week closer to christmas.
there are a Lot of more traditions but i think those are the most commonly used ones.

@joannnguyen:
I can only agree with what wackeraf said! That explanation is on point
But on the 6th, it's the St. Nicholas Day. It has nothing to do with Santa
I also remembered, that many families like to pick the Christmas tree together.
