For religious reason. Saying "Oh my god" can be disrespectful, depending on the context. It's considered using God's name in vain. But it's okay to use either or.

Exactly, it can be seen as profane, taking the Lord's name in vain. Personally I would stick with gosh because that is sure to offend no one.
