Question about English (US)

How would you translate "Wissenschaftliche Hilfskraft" (at university) to english? It is someone who already graduated with a bachelor degree (but still studies) and gets a job (for students) at university. Like helping the professor with his projects and stuff like that... and you get paid. Is it a "graduate assistant"? Or is there another term for that?
