I wanted to ask, is there an idiom un English, what you can say, when you are dissapointed, when someone has said, un that he/she will do something, but finaly doesn't do it or says that he/she won't do it? Hope I described situation clear enough.

When someone does that, it’s called breaking their promise or breaking their word

Example conversation:

A: “You promised you would make a list”

B: “Well, I forgot”

A: “I can’t believe you broke your promise!”

@Liesma23 If that’s the situation, then you can say “they backed out” of what they were going to do. Or if they were too scared to do it, “chickening out”.

For example:

“My friend said he would go hiking with me but he backed out.”
Or
“I wanted to go rock climbing but it was scary so I chickened out”
