Take the loss. This is used often when you lose money, get dumped, flunk/fail a test, or lose a game. "Our team took an L last night." "I took an L when the stock market crashed." If I'm about to take a test and I am not prepared, I would say "Well, it's time to take an L." Hope this helps 👍🏻
