I used to have a Russian classmate when I was in college in Sydney.She was very kind to give a hand to everyone in the class, sometimes take the leadership of the group chat. She always gives me a bright smile and sometimes we have a frank chat after class. I still remember a word from her: my love just like the amount of people of my country! I don't know a lot about politics but I think I like Russian so far:)

I would guess most people's personal experience with Russians are on Holiday. I doubt that these experiences reflect the average Russian. The Russians skiing in the Alps or on the beach in Croatia tend to like show their wealth. In Russia you probably have a name for these people.
I think Russians (and many Slavs) tend to be fatalistic vs optimistic. This doesn't make them any worse fathers, mothers, friends than any other people on earth.

I never really knew her personally but there was this Russian transfer student in my junior class! She was a sweetie but a super big flirt haha!

I feel like Russians are very proud of their county. A common stereotype is that Russians are very tough. Apparently Russians drink lots of vodka and wrestle bears.

My boss is Russian and I love her to death! Also in my French language program here in France, there is a girl from Russia and I see some similarities between the two. They both seem very no-nonsense and will complain about things a lot, but overall caring and loving to those who they like.

My impression of Russian people is that they do everything very wholeheartedly, with 100% commitment. They seem to have a lot of self-confidence.
