A lover = un amoureux ( gender m. ) une amoureuse ( gender f.)

A lover=« Amoureux »(gender.m) or « Amoureuse »(gender.f)
Most of the time, children use this word (between 5 or 10y/o) not the adults. When we are more than 13y/o, we can say:
« petit-copain » = (boyfriend)
or
« petite-copine » = (girlfriend)
