Here and over here essentially have the same meaning and they’re used in similar ways but in some cases “over here” can’t be used while “here” can. The main difference is that “over here” implies a specific location/distance and we usually use it for emphasis.

So for example “come here” and “come over here” mean the same thing.

But if you wanted to say to someone “we live here” while you’re standing in your house and they’re right beside you, you wouldn’t say “we live over here” because there’s no need to emphasize the location. You’re both at that specific place already.

On the flip side, let’s say you’re both looking at a map of your neighborhood and you’re showing your friend where you live. In this case, either sentence would work. You can point to a specific place on the map and say “I live here” or “I live over here.”

It’s a little complicated so you can just use “here” if you’re unsure. ^^
