"mieć" means "to have". I don't know how the reflexive pronoun "sié" works on this verb. Does it really change it to "być"? I thought "Jak się masz?" meant "how have you?" and the translated common phrase was just "how ARE you". But this "się" makes "mieć" become a verb similar to "być / to be ?
- Polish
Jak się masz? Dziękuję, mam się dobrze.
This is probably only common usage in this meaning. It can be translated as: How are you? How do you feel? Thank you I am fine.
"Mieć" means "to have" but "mieć się" means close to "to feel".

in polish, żeby mieć coś would be to have something, żeby mać (mać being a conjugated version of mieć) się dobrze means to be well or literally to to be in the state of wellness. so if someone says, czy masz się dobrze or mam się dobrze or czy ty masz się dobrze would all be are or I am am okay or good. mać się dobrze states "to be good"
- Polish
mieć się «być w jakimś stanie, położeniu》/to be in some state, position,
It is not always possible to use calque for translations. Some expressions are not translated literally.
eg.
Mam się dobrze./ I'm fine.
Mam 20 lat./I'm 20 years old.
mieć się na baczności/to be on guard

you can also say mam się dobrze/źle which means i'm fine/i feel fine/bad but only in that way, because mieć means to have
