Some countries are very open about jokes, teasing, and opinions. I think one thing would be to be more careful about these especially if you are not good friends. Teasing and being too comfortable could be considered too much if you just met. Some like getting to know each other first before getting comfortable. They don't usually have that 'mind your own business' type of attitude. They'd want to know if you need something and would notice your presence or concerns. Others would be very friendly while others get shy or feel awkward if you're not close.
Filipinos give people who are older with much respect. It can be viewed as very rude if you talk back without paying respect. It would be appropriate to behave a little more with people who are older than you.

I would like to disagree with "opinions". I am living in the Philippines myself and public opinion is not respected here. Freedom of speech is often blocked. If you expressed your opinion on a certain matter, more or less, it can get you killed.
I don't want to talk about this anymore, as it might get me killed also.

I would like to add that I do have family there, so if the family had extended relatives or friends, it is okay to be comfortable around them no? And as for opinions, is it concerning politics that public opinion is not so much appreciated?

Any kind of opinion is often not appreciated.
For example, when someone hands to you their literary work and asked you to critic it. They will get disappointed once your opinion does not align with what they're expecting.
As per politics, the government does not want to be criticized or be given bad remarks about them. Yes, opinions are appreciated as long as its on their side

@iines_mediina Political opinions are okay. I guess the safe thing would be that if they express a major dislike towards the opposing opinion you have/they have a major liking to the opposing opinion you have, it would be better to be just careful about your approach or try to force it. But it's fine if you want to share your opinions. Example could be that you support the mayor. They hate the mayor and are bashing. Instead of strictly defending the mayor its fine with simply sharing a bit how you are on the mayor's side without completely going all out.
As for being comfortable, if you've already been behaving that way for a long time it's fine. That's how they are used to you. If you feel very close already you can act the way you are and just be yourself. But if it's not that close yet, just be a little sensitive or like "shy"? Filipinos are often "nahihiya" or reserved(? Idk a good word to describe.) like when people are offering something they would be a little shy and say "nakakahiya" and you don't immediately accept it. Even though they insist that you accept, they still like seeing "nahihiya ka" or being shy. I think it makes you look less needy it's kind of a part of our culture.
