Hi, when someone invites to do something together but you can't make it, I know that you can say "I'd love to, but i have to work late". Is it correct to say "I have to work late, but i'd love to"?

@cupcakes123 they mean the same, but: "I'd love to, but…" sounds like you are also saying "I'm sorry." to have the same feeling, you would say : "I'm sorry. I have to work late, but i'd love to (+ what you were invited to)"

They might misunderstand the second statement because it is unclear if you can come. It also sounds like you still might try to come after you work.
You should use the sentence, "I'd love to, but i have to work late."
