‘work for’ usually means to be employed or have a boss you work for.
example : “I work for the government.”
The word ‘for’ can sometimes mean your reason for doing something.
example: “I work for the money.”
‘work on’ can be used for a lot of activities or tasks to show that you’re currently doing or working towards it.
example: “I will work on my homework”. “I will work on losing weight.”
