Question about Hebrew

I heard people greet saying "kida" at the beginning of Krav Maga class.
A friend of mine never came to Israel before but she loves Krav Maga, and keeps learning it in several other countries, and now all her classmates insist she has to say "kidam" instead of "kida" in the country where she now lives. And she asked me why. But frankly, I have no idea.
Which is proper? kida? or kidam?
And could you please give me the spelling of "kida" or "kidam"?
