Question about Hong Kong

I would love to travel to Hong Kong someday. I’ve even been to Shanghai six years ago and I loved it but, can I speak Chinese Mandarin (汉语) in Hong Kong? I know people speak Cantonese (广东话) but I don’t.

@Babadaba yes you can, but I cant promise how different or indifferent you will be treated.
You know, there are tension between HK and Mandarin speaking China.
Maybe people think it is ok because of they know you are not Chinese from your skin colour idk
For me personally, I can speak Mandarin, good enough to live well when I am in Taiwan, but I will not respond to Mandarin in HK, like how French people do to tourist in France dispite they actually can speak English.
Note that English is one of the official languages in HK.

@Babadaba you can be good to live speaking Mandarin in HK, but I bet you cant learn Mandarin from HKers

Yes, you can. The most people can speak mandarin in Hong Kong, and some people also can speak English. So you can use in mandarin or English in Hong Kong
