begegnen + sein
'Begegnen' ist ein Verb der Bewegung. Also, ich laufe irgendwo, treffe dort auf jemanden und gehe dann weiter.
Ich bin gerade diesem Satz im Wörterbuch begegnet. --> Dein Satz ist verständlich, klingt aber seltsam. 'Begegnen' würde ich ausschließlich für Personen verwenden. Man kann auf Menschen treffen/sich begegnen, aber nicht auf Gegenstände.
Ich war in den Bergen und bin A begegnet. ✔ -> Ich habe A [zufällig] getroffen.
Ich bin den Bergen begegnet. ✖
Ich habe gerade diesen Satz im Wörterbuch gefunden. -> Der Satz ist perfekt.
