@_Seven I have a friend who went to Paris once, and he was lost and had a lot of trouble trying to get someone to give him directions, because he didn't speak French very well. Besides, I've always heard about the rudeness of the parisian waiters. I'm glad this is just a prejudice and not actually how parisians are. Je veux visiter Paris dans un futur proche et j'espère que ça serait merveilleuse. Merci pour votre réponse. Ça me fait heureux :-)

This question is frequently asked about this application (maybe once a month) and the answer is always the same: No. How is it that this cliché is so widespread?
Anyone from any country would be more than happy to hear that foreigners are making an effort to speak their language.
People from countries where they are too familiar with strangers simply tend to confuse less familiar culture (as in France) with coldness and rudeness. Also, Paris is not just a tourist city and its inhabitants are not there to entertain you. They live their own lives, have to go to work etc. which means that they don't always have time to help a tourist or to take someone's picture.

@WizzLight thanks for your answer, but I must disagree. I've lived in many, so called, tourist cities. I've never heard of this characteristic in any of them. I've never lived in Paris, though, and thus my question. I was sincerely curious as for how parisians would answer. Perhaps I was expecting them to answer more like like you did. That you don't always have the time to help a tourist. I didn't ask about pictures, but even that does not seem to be a problem in many cities I've visited/lived. I've seen cities, such as Sydney, Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Toronto, where people would offer to take your picture (for free). But then again, I believe we get what we give. Cheers. :-)
