Significan lo mismo! Pero (según he visto) en España se usa más «váter», mientras que en Latinoamérica se usa más inodoro (o simplemente «baño»).
Pequeña correción:
Váter y inodoro ❌
Váter e inodoro ✔
Se usa «e» antes de palabras que empiezan con «i/y»; singifica lo mismo que «y» pero es solo para que suene mejor.

¿Se utiliza también baño? Pero baño es el local donde está el inodoro, ¿no?

@Brunomg Sí:
Baño = bathroom.
Baño = bath
Baño = toilet
En mi vida diaria uso «baño» para referirme a esas tres cosas. En cambio en España «toilet» se utiliza más como «váter».

Pero como sabes si uno está hablando del baño (lugar) o baño (inodoro)? ¿No te pones confuso a veces?

@Brunomg Para nada jaja depende del contexto. En situaciones formales la gente sí usaría inodoro y baño.
- Uno de los lavabos del baño del colegio se rompió. (bathroom)
= Es imposible que eso signifique que en el inodoro se rompió un lavabo.
Otra situación; alguien habla con otra persona que está dentro del baño:
A) ¿Puedo pasar?
B) No, estoy en el baño. (toilet)
= se sobreentiende que hablas del inodoro, porque la persona ya sabe que estás en el baño.
Como dije, todo depende del contexto.

@Gurugru_94 En España no decimos "toilet" xd
@Brunomg La verdad es que según mi experiencia aquí en España la mayoría de mujeres y hombres jóvenes decimos "váter", mientras que "inodoro" solo se lo he escuchado a hombres más adultos/mayores o ancianos. Yo personalmente no diría "inodoro" en la vida, me suena muy extraño 😅
De todas formas es más común decir simplemente "voy al baño / cuarto de baño / servicio". A no ser que quieras decir "voy a limpiar el váter", por ejemplo.

@Alexiiia25 Gracias por especificar ya me estaba haciendo bola 🤣 y no quise decir que dicen toilet xd lo dije mal, me refiero a que ustedes dicen «váter» y que eso significa «toilet» (pero gracias por aclarar)
