I would say that there is no difference.
"I crave ice cream."
"I crave for ice cream."
"I have a craving for ice cream."
All have the same meaning, however "I crave for ice cream" can be taken more generally; I crave for ice cream on weekends or holidays, for example. While the other two sentences sound more like something you would say if you wanted ice cream at that moment.

Thanks guys for great explanations!
So
"I crave ice cream" and "I have a craving for ice cream" are grammatically correct, but "I crave for ice cream" is more natural/used more often?

I would never say "crave for." It just doesn't sound right to me.

the word for means: relationship
(for) is the relationship between the thing and what your craving.
Example if you ONLY crave somthing OR I crave somthing for someone. But Americans use this word wrong all the time.
I'm craving something FOR YOU / I crave somthing by my self.
