Question about Hebrew
If you or your parents were olim chadashim that had to learn Hebrew from scratch upon arriving in Israel, do you (they) feel that the Hebrew instruction at their ulpan was enough?
I'm sure you won't learn the entire language but was it enough to function in the Israeli society or did you (they) struggle a lot to a point where you had to have your friends, relatives and neighbors (who also speak your language plus Hebrew) help you translate?

my mother and some of my friends are olim hadashim. i can tell you that its never enough.. its only the basics. i had to correct my friend a lot at highschool and i still do to this day (she is 10 years in israel) and it helps her but you learn from being submerged in the society.. dont be afraid to make mistakes. it will come to you eventually. good luck!
