Question about English (US)
Is this passage grammatically correct?
The number of Tokyoites infected with the new coronavirus has been topping the 200 level for a few days. Teachers who live in Tokyo but work in the neighboring prefectures such as Chiba, Kanagawa, and Saitama, are afraid of being exposed to the virus. If they were infected with it, their schools would be closed for a few days to disinfect the facilities. What is worse, at a lot of schools the end-of-term exam has begun or will begin soon. If the third-year students didn't take their exams, their term grades, which are required for applying to the colleges they want to get into, wouldn't be decided.

@ichiroyamada I think it’s more like this: The number of Tokyoites infected with the new coronavirus has been topping the 200 level for a few days now. Teachers who live in Tokyo but work in the neighboring prefectures such as Chiba, Kanagawa, and Saitama, are afraid of being exposed to the virus. If they were/are infected with it/the virus, their schools would/should be closed for a few days to disinfect the facilities. To make it/matters worse, a lot of schools who have end-of-term exam has (already) begun or will begin soon. If the third-year students didn't take their exams, their term grades, which are required for applying to the colleges they want to get into, wouldn't be decided.

@ichiroyamada small error at the end. it should be “If the third-year students (don’t) take their exams(;) their term grades, which are required for applying to the colleges they want to get into, wouldn’t be decided.”
Other than that, it’s perfect. Well done!
