Question about Japanese
I've recently made a Japanese friend, and I've been helping him a lot with his English and he seems to love it. He's offered to help me out with my Japanese as well, but I'm not as advanced in Japanese as he is in English!! (T ^ T) I would really love the opportunity to practice with a native speaker, but I have no idea how to initiate something like this? Maybe have him help me write something in Japanese or learn a Japanese song? Does anyone have any suggestions because I would GREATLY appreciate them (^人^)♡

Why don't you use greeting phrases at first? I would respond in Japanese if I see Japanese words, no matter what basic Japanese words you use! If you have same preferences with them, that topic would be good too.

Maybe you can ask how to learn the hiragana and katakana! That can be a good beginning. Meruさん、がんばって‼︎(*^^*)

Do you know enough to have a conversation? Have him help you sound more natural or correct grammar as you guys chat in Japanese.
Maybe you can make some sample dialogue based on what you know, that has room for a bit of improvisation, and act it out with him. A good way to hear pronunciation from a native.

Start with simple topics like self introduction and hobbies or about your country. You can converse in these kinda topics with basic grammar i think. Good luck!

Yes, I know enough to make basic conversation. My kanji are a little behind but I look them up if I don't know them. :D
