What is the difference between "당신" and "넌"

Both mean "you", but nuance is different. The word 당신 is one of very tricky words because you may never hear this word in any Korean speaking conversation. A Korean, I'm even frustrated by those dictionaries still having this word as a translation for English "you". How different is it from 너/너는? The answer must be long.

I would use 님 (nim/Nim) instead of 당신, when the word "you" needs to be translated into Korean in a formal form. 님 is a native Korean word, connoting respect for other people. For example:
넌 참 열정적이야. You are so passionate. 😀 (informal)
당신은 참 열정적이시네요 😛 (archaic)
님은 참 열정적이시네요 😀 (formal)
