Question about Philippines
I would like to get into Filipino pop culture, especially movies and TV shows, to fast track learning but a lot of Filipino entertainment is too cheesy for me 😭 any suggestions of exciting things to watch that aren’t too dramatic? Or maybe even Tagalog speaking YouTubers?

It's actually the reason why many also don't like local tv media in ph and would prefer western or japanese media, cuz it's always cheesy or overly dramatic or comedic. The only one I find cool and epic is Heneral Luna and Goyong: Ang Batang Heneral. Here is a free video on YouTube complete with English and Filipino captions of the full movie of Heneral Luna: https://youtu.be/SYWo6FoVacY
Also, there was also a short film prequel to it, you can watch first "Angelito": https://youtu.be/DCBRjEuSQNw

@Leo-chan
Thanks, my family always thinks its strange that I watch anything else but Filipino media, but I guess that’s because they’re used to the dramatics :-) Glad to hear I’m not alone though, and I look forward to checking out Heneral Luna and Goyong 😃

@Vieramos04 If you want youtuber there is "CongTV" and his friends but CongTV on his own swears a lot is tagalog so if you dont want to hear that then watch their friends and family like "Junnieboy and Viy Cortez" and once you know them you know more Filipino Youtubers and they are funny and very entertaining

Try some of these:
Ilustrado (20 eps) - Historical Period Drama mirrored from the life of our National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal.
Katipunan (8 eps) - Another Historical period drama about the Revolutionary group Katipunan.
Ala-ala - A docudrama that reminisces on the time of Martial Law in the Philippines.
Bayan Ko (6 eps) - a political drama that talks about the culture of dynasties and patronage in our political system.
Titser - An inspirational drama that talks about the struggles and dreams of a bright young student to become a teacher
Alamat - Fantasy animated anthology that portrays the infamous literary legends in the Philippines.
Urduja - An animated movie that is adapted from the legend of the warrior princess of Pangasinan - Urduja.
These are all in YouTube, I think. And there also tons of documentaries that you can find there too.

If you're looking for top Filipino YouTubers, you should definitely check these out:
1.) Lloyd Cafe Cadena(+),- Kween LC /Kuya Lloyd/Kuya Els/Kuya LC. Best. YouTuber. Ever. His vlogs/videos were mostly about the most authentic daily life in the Philippines, as well as comedy skits about Filipino student and work life, relationships, teenager and other young adult things(check out LC-Learns). He is also known for giving back to his community through donation drives, community christmas parties, giving of school supplies, appliances for the mothers, which came all from his pocket, and despite his fame, he still chose to live a really simple and relatable and adventurous life. Most humble YouTuber I've ever met.
2.) Bakla ng Taon Production, or BNT Production- This means "Gays of the Year". This group consists of 7 gays, 1 straight girl and 1 straight guy, all formed by late LC who come together to make make vlogs, skits, challenges and rants(Talak ng Taon=meaning Rants of the Year), in which every single ordinary Filipino can relate from.
3.) Emman Nimedez(+)- Comedy but more on romantic side. He's got the charm, and the talent to make everybody smile through his skits, parodies and short movies about friendship, love and heartbreak. He is called the "Pambansang Oppa ng Pilipinas" or "The National Oppa of the Philippines" due to his K-Drama parody where instead of flowers he carries a bundle of long green beans to give to the girl he love to show his love for her.
4.) Wil Dasovich- He is American-born, but as he became fluent in tagalog, he shared the ways he mastered the language and how he integrated himself to the Filipino culture, in which will be a great inspiration.
5.) Alex Gonzaga- Pure laughter. Her videos were mostly pranks, with her mom being the biggest victim, Q&As and daily life vlogs. Her channel is just pure comedy. One time you're watching to learn and next time you're dying out of laughter.
6.)Mimiyuuuh- Hands-down The Trendsetter of the Philippines. She likes making unique sound effects, weird faces and dance trends on TikTok like "It Really Hurts" (check out the song "Kabet"= a married man's side chick by Gagong Rapper =Jerk Rapper) and "Tuuulo" parody of Sarah Geronimo's "Tala"(Star) She's also got an avant-garde (and they're all thrifted, sustainable) fashion sense too.
