El problema, como comentan, es que en los medios de comunicación suelen usar "junto a" cuando deberían usar "junto con".

Para mi, la frase sería correcta si dijera "junto con".
Me atengo al diccionario:
Junto a = cerca de
Junto con = en compañia de
