On the other hand, cassettes were less popular than LPs at the start of the survey period, but from the mid 80s to until the late 90s, sales music markets, and the sales were about 80 million. To be precise, cassettes were more popular than LPs in late 80s. Does this sound natural?

You probably should say: but from the mid 80s up until the late 90s

You should put: The music sales were about 80 million
And I don't understand the ending part you're contradicting yourself
