「形式名詞「の」と「こと」の使い分けについてですが、「聞く」「聞こえる」など感覚動詞の前に、「の」しか使えません。」と日本語先生が言いましたが、以下の例文はそのルール違反じゃないですか?
「昨日佐々木さんが入院したことを聞きましたか。」

例文は間違っていると考えたほうがいいかと思います。
×先生が踊ることを見た
〇先生が踊るのを見た
×先生が泣くことを聞いた
〇先生が泣くのを聞いた
[先生が泣く]という名詞のかたまりをつくるために
「こと」という意味のない言葉=形式名詞を使っている場合、
感覚動詞をつなげると不自然になります。
あなたの先生の言うように「聞く」「聞こえる」「見る」「見える」などの
日本語の感覚動詞では
「こと」ではなく「~の」を使います。
なので
×「昨日佐々木さんが入院したことを聞きましたか。」
〇「昨日佐々木さんが入院したのを聞きましたか。」
ですね。
実は例文はすこし自然に感じてしまうのです。
それは「こと」が形式名詞ではなく、
実質名詞というものの可能性をなくせなくて
必ずしも間違いとは言えないのです。
でも、
日本語の勉強として
感覚動詞を理解するうえでの例文としては誤りでいいと思いますよ!
